My Murder
This single camera drama was broadcast in four episodes over four consecutive nights. The plot centers around a young teenager who............
the first main single camera feature was when shak(main character) was walking through the fields, then the camera slowly zoomed in while panning towards him. this was a good technique because it showed that the story was based around him. also the camera shot shows him on the path to where he is heading to, in this case home when coming out from prison.
second feature was when you saw then evnviromental shot of the whole surroundings for example the city shot, shooting this will indicate to the audience where the actual scene is set.
Props theory
in this category shaq is the victim(main character). danny and the girl are the villains

Task 4 Compare and contrast narrative structures
Compare and contrast EastEnders and Dr Who
The following TV programme consists of many narrative key terms such as:
Linear/Non Linear Restricted/ Unrestricted Subjective/ objective
Dr. Who is a 'non linear' programme because it consists of the story line referring back to previous events in the story i.e flash back. By having this technique in the story line, it shows more detail in the story. With the audience knowing these features in the 'unrestricted' plot, it allows them to know the story in greater detail.
The narrative also includes subjective and objective viewpoints; Oswin (the confused Dalek) believes herself to be human and it is this subjective point of view that is shown to the viewer. It also has restricted and unrestricted narratives.
Whereas the narrative structure of EastEnders is linear; the story is sequential and there are never any flashbacks. However, there is subjective viewpoints and unrestricted narratives.
Realist/Anti Realist
Dr. Who has an 'anti realist' narrative, common to all Scifi genre productions. The science fiction genre is generally based on fantasy and non realist situations. The locations for Dr. Who are set in space, on board a spaceship/ Tardis, includes aliens, robots and uses science fiction language. Where as EastEnders is all based on reality and is set in a real life environment, so it falls under being a realist type of TV programme.
Todorov narrative theory:
The equilibrium was when the doctor was saving a damsel in distress and the suddenly encounters a problem resulting in himself being in danger. Where as Eastenders has multi stranded story-lines happening simultaneously, so the equilibrium, disequilibrium, recognition, reparation and new equilibrium in story-lines are different for each sub-plot.
Props narrative theory
In Dr. Who, the doctor is the hero, the 'Daleks' are the villains and Amy and her boyfriend are the helpers in the story. The 'damsel in distress' was the confused Dalek Oswin. In EastEnders the use of the Props theory is not always clear because anybody could be a hero, villain, helper or a damsel in distress.

Task 3 Genre
Four Dramas analysis
Big Bang theory
This American TV situation comedy (Sitcom) is staged on a set, in a studio. The main sets are in the living room area, university canteen and the comic book store. It is typical of the genre as it follows certain codes and convention..........jokes, comedic situation, archetypes - strong characters that the audience are familiar with
Big Bang theory is mainly linear where as in some episodes of Big Bang theory there are some non linear parts included in the particular scene/episode.
White collar
This American crime/comedy based program. The program has a lot of suspence, cliff hangers, robbery's and deaths included in the TV program.
White collar is non linear because the TV show always refers back many scenes of previous episodes like a flash back. This shows that the program has a fixed story to the plot of the show. The main location(s) of White collar is the Federal Bureu, neals and peters house. the lighting of it is mainly well lit or lit up through the natural daylight.
Supernatural
This American TV program is thriller and action. the TV program has a lot of suspense, cliff hangers and a lot of deaths as well.
Supernatural is a non linear because it refers back to past episodes in the series. this allows the plot to be more dramatic as well. the main locations or where its mainly filmed is in the car. the lighting is quite dark so that they can give a more darker feel to the programme.

Task 2 - Camera Formats
The difference between single camera and multi camera formats and techniques in media production
A single camera technique is when one camera is used to film a scene. Comedy sitcoms, films, dramas, soaps and music videos all use the single camera technique.
The advantages of single camera use is that it allows the director a greater degree of creative control; they can alter the shot size and angle to help express and support the narrative and dynamics of the scene. The filming can also be shot out of sequence. Scenes to do not have to be filmed chronologically; actors and locations which feature in different parts of the script can be filmed at the same time. The footage is sequenced at the time of editing.

Shot types
Establishing
Wide shot
Pan
Tracking shot
Steady zoom in shot
Point of view (POV)
Advantages of single camera is that its
efficient and cheap so that you would be able to use the technique multiple
times.
It has uses of the 180-degree rule in the
technique. Good for chronological fluent scene frames.
Editors use the master shot to build the
whole scene around. The actual shot to the sound would have to be synchronized
perfectly throughout the whole scene.
Establishing shot - An establishing shot is the when the camera shows the scenery of the location and environment of where the scene is. The shot it self does not consist of the characters in the establishing shot. You would rarely find where the character(s) would be in the establishing shot.
Wide shot - a wide shot is when the camera shot is widened so that more than one character can be included in the shot. This technique is good for capturing shots of scenes where is a large group or an individual walking alone and the camera capturing the characters surroundings.
Pan - Pan is when is the camera circles a character or a particular subject or object. This technique is mainly used to show character emotions in great depth or switch from one character to another. This again is rarely used for switching characters, whereas the director would just cut each shot from one to the other. Pan is mainly used for Documentaries and reality TV.
POV - POV or point of view is mainly used as technique to show the audience what the character is doing through his or her eyes.
